I have over 30 years of entrepreneurial experience providing computer technical support and digital marketing services to corporations, educational institutions and individuals. I hold an M.A. in telecommunications from Michigan State University, where I performed research on new media and interactive media technologies, and a B.A. in communications from Western Michigan University, where I studied mass communications, video production and theater. With my dual background in communications and I.T., I am able to bridge the gap between media and technology. Social media and website design have allowed me to combine my technical aptitude with my creative skills and interests, including marketing, graphic design, and photography.
When my wife accepted a tenured faculty position at Wenatchee Valley College in 2012, I relocated my business, Alternative Marketing Connections, from Olympia to Wenatchee and continued to work with my Western Washington clients, providing social media and online marketing management, content creation and website design services.
In October 2012 Russ became a founding partner of Digital Media Northwest, where I gained valuable business experience as a managing partner, in addition to building a portfolio of website and social media clients. I produced, directed, and edited full-length television shows (finally putting my video production classes to use!). I also was able to develop my skill as a sports and event photographer, a passion of mine since I was a teenager.
In July 2023, I accepted a position as the Director of Communications and Development for the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center, where I manage their digital media presence, produce community television shows, and oversee membership management software. As a result, I left the partnership at Digital Media Northwest and created Alman Media Group so that I can continue to work with a select group of clients on their digital media presence and pursue my passion for photography.
Over the course of my career, my client base has included organizations of a variety of sizes and market segments, including contractors (electricians, plumbers, builders, landscapers), medical professionals (medical clinics, massage therapists, chiropractors), and restaurants. I have also worked with chambers of commerce, a large casino, REI, and the University of Oregon.
I also have college-level teaching experience in computer information systems at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon.
